~ If Alone the Night Before Christmas ~ A poem by Robert A. Flaspoehler:

If Alone the Night Before Christmas

There's a Christmas morning
After every Christmas Eve.
It's the Christmas we can't forget.
It is when we learned to believe.

All the magic and ‘lurement
Were the trappings, that's all.
Once the gifts were exchanged
Which day did the tree really fall.

There's a Christmas morning
After our first true Christmas Eve.
The Christmas we found the Spirit
When in faith we chose to believe.

Never take back whole or part
What parents give to children.
It is the child from the beginning
It is the child from the start.

So, there is a Christmas morning
After every Christmas Eve ... as sleep
Comes to those needing a new start
Awaken, find Christ born in their hearts.
